Biographical Sketch

Sanne Kwakman was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, in 1997. After graduating from high school, she studied Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2015. Here she developed an interest in biomechanics, particularly in the cardiovascular field. This led her to a Masters in Medical Engineering with a specialization in Cardiovascular Biomechanics. During her master thesis she worked on the development of a finite element model of the left ventricle. In 2022, she visited the Institute of Biomechanics in Graz for an internship, where she implemented a constitutive model and worked on parameter identification methods.

In April 2023 she returned to Graz to start her PhD at the Institute of Biomechanics under the supervision of Professor Gerhard A. Holzapfel.
