Biographical Sketch

Theresa Rienmüller completed her Master’s degree in telematics with a focus on image and signal processing at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). She continued her academic career at TU Graz and the Tyrolean private university UMIT, where she earned her Doctor of Technical Sciences in the field of modeling and diagnosis of dynamic multi-mode systems. Her studies also included sensor fusion and machine learning for analyzing complex data sets. Her expertise in modeling dynamic systems laid the foundation for her transition to biomedical engineering, where she now applies advanced computational and analytical approaches to biological and medical challenges. As part of this transition, she integrated cell experiments into her research to combine computational models with biological validation. As a co-PI in the FWF Zukunftskolleg project LOGOS-TBI, she investigated light-controlled organic semiconductors for neuronal stimulation after traumatic brain injury. Her work includes the use of advanced materials in bioelectronic applications.

Since 2025, Theresa Rienmüller has been an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Biomechanics, TU Graz, where she continues to advance research at the interface of engineering, physiology, and biomedical technologies. Her particular interest lies in combining experimental and computational methods to develop integrative approaches to understanding and modulating physiological processes.
